He is involved with the project Extremely together[1] through the Kofi Annan Foundation.[2] Ihler has written editorials for The Guardian, Huffington Post[3] and other publications on the topic of terrorism,[4] and has participated in the Oslo Freedom Forum, where he spoke in 2016 about his experience of terrorism and his work to counter violent extremism.[5][6] His work in countering violent extremism has led him to talk to many former members of extremist and radical groups. A BBC profile of his work has noted that "He claims the unusual and unenviable record of meeting more reformed extremists than anyone else."[7] Ihler has said that he believes that Anders Breivik should be treated humanely by the Norwegian prison system.[8] He told BBC Radio 4 that "Breivik denied us all humanity and all human rights. But that does not ever make it right for us to deny him the same thing. If we do that, we follow the same logic as him I think.”[9] References1. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.wired.co.uk/article/kofi-annan-countering-isis-extremism-online|title=Extremely Together is playing ISIS at its own game to tackle extremism|last=Franklin-Wallis|first=Oliver|work=WIRED UK|access-date=2017-09-18|language=en-GB}} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.businessinsider.com/utoya-island-terror-attack-survivor-bjorn-ihler-on-his-work-2016-8?r=UK&IR=T&IR=T/#-9 | title=A man who was almost killed by Anders Breivik explains how he keeps re-living it to prevent others from becoming radicalised | publisher=Business Insider | date=August 21, 2016 | accessdate=October 27, 2016 | author=O'Reilly, Lara}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/bjorn-ihler/terrorism-norway_b_17578370.html|title=Six Years Ago A Terrorist Took Aim At My Head, Fired His Gun, And Missed|website=HuffPost UK|language=en-GB|access-date=2017-09-18}} 4. ^{{cite web | url=https://www.theguardian.com/profile/bj-rn-ihler | title=Bjørn Ihler | publisher=The Guardian | accessdate=October 27, 2016}} 5. ^{{cite web | url=https://oslofreedomforum.com/speakers/bjrn-ihler | title=Bjørn Ihler | publisher=Oslo Freedom Forum | accessdate=October 27, 2016}} 6. ^{{Citation|last=OsloFreedomForum|title=BJØRN IHLER {{!}} WHAT SURVIVING A TERRORIST ATTACK TAUGHT ME {{!}} 2016|date=2016-05-27|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPOWQ7CPONQ|accessdate=2017-02-28}} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41899753|title=Terror survivor's call for open speech on extremism|last=Pickles|first=Matt|date=2017-11-08|work=BBC News|access-date=2017-11-08|language=en-GB}} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=http://edition.cnn.com/2016/04/20/europe/norway-anders-breivik-wins-suit/index.html|title=Breivik's rights violated, court rules|last=CNN|first=Tim Hume and Olav Mellingsater,|work=CNN|access-date=2017-09-18}} 9. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/anders-breivik-ut%C3%B8ya-survivor-bjorn-ihler_uk_57189704e4b06f0cc843e3e2|title=Anders Breivik Victim Explains Why The Man Who Tried To Murder Him Deserves His Human Rights|date=2016-04-21|work=The Huffington Post|access-date=2017-02-28|language=en-GB}} External links
