West Traverse Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,448 at the 2000 census.

Communities

Harbor Point is an unincorporated community in a noncontiguous part of the township on a peninsula south of Harbor Springs at {{Coord|45|25|31|N|84|59|13|W|}}. The historic Little Traverse Lighthouse is located at the tip of the Harbor Point peninsula. It was begun as a resort originally called Lansing Resort in 1878.{{sfn|Romig|1986|page=251}}

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of {{convert|13.4|sqmi|km2}}, of which {{convert|13.3|sqmi|km2}} is land and {{convert|0.04|sqmi|km2}} (0.22%) is water. The city of Harbor Springs is located south of the township.
