Cast
ProductionShephard developed the script for several years. In 2016, after her financier fell through during the first week of shooting, Shephard partially self-financed Blame using money from her college fund and with help from her mother. The film was shot in 19 days in the fall of 2015 in Shepard's hometown of Metuchen, New Jersey.[4] ReceptionOn Rotten Tomatoes the film holds an approval rating of 80% based on 30 reviews, with an average rating of 6.2/10.[5] On Metacritic, the film received a score of 54 out of 100, based on 10 reviews, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[6] IndieWire called it a "solid debut", while writing that, though it "isn't fully realized", it establishes Shephard as "someone to watch".[7] Glenn Kenny of The New York Times described the film as "earnest but underdeveloped".[8] Filmmaker magazine called the film "a poignant and incisive examination of modern American adolescence."[9] The Hollywood Reporter called it "a mixed bag of a directorial debut".[10]At the Tribeca Film Festival, the film was nominated for several awards and won the award for Best Actress in a US Narrative Feature (for Alexander's performance).[3] Blame was also a featured in the Montclair Film Festival 2017[11] and the Greenwich International Film Festival 2017.[12] References1. ^*{{cite web|last=Nordine|first=Michael|title='Blame' Review: Quinn Shephard Makes a Strong First Impression in Her Debut as Writer, Director, and Star|date=April 30, 2017|publisher=IndieWire|url=http://www.indiewire.com/2017/04/blame-review-quinn-shephard-tribeca-1201809985/|accessdate=June 22, 2017}}*{{cite web|last=Astle|first=Randy|title=Tribeca 2017: Five Questions with Blame Director Quinn Shephard|date=April 27, 2017|work=Filmmaker|url=http://filmmakermagazine.com/102286-tribeca-2017-five-questions-with-blame-director-quinn-shephard/#.WUwwQWjyu01|accessdate=June 22, 2017}}*{{cite web|last=Laffly|first=Tomris|title=TRIBECA 2017 INTERVIEW: QUINN SHEPHARD ON "BLAME"|date=May 1, 2017|publisher=RogerEbert.com|url=http://www.rogerebert.com/festivals-and-awards/tribeca-2017-quinn-shephard-on-blame|accessdate=June 22, 2017}}*{{cite web|last=Lang|first=Brent|title=Chris Messina on Returning to ‘Mindy Project,’ His Sexy New Thriller ‘Blame’|date=April 28, 2017|work=Variety|url=https://variety.com/2017/film/news/chris-messina-mindy-project-blame-1202402916/|accessdate=June 22, 2017}} 2. ^{{cite web|last=Frosch|first=Jon|title='Blame': Film Review; Tribeca 2017|date=April 23, 2017|work=The Hollywood Reporter|url=http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/blame-review-996508|accessdate=June 22, 2017}} 3. ^1 {{Cite web|url=https://www.tribecafilm.com/filmguide/award-screening-best-actress-us-narrative-competition-2017|title=Award Screening: Best Actress, US Narrative Competition: Blame {{!}} 2017 Tribeca Film Festival|website=Tribeca|access-date=2018-02-07}} 4. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.businessinsider.com/how-a-20-year-old-filmmaker-cashed-in-her-college-fund-to-make-her-movie-2018-1|title=After an investor bailed, a 20-year-old filmmaker spent her entire college fund finishing her award-winning debut|work=Business Insider|access-date=2018-02-07}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Blame (2017)|work=Rotten Tomatoes|url=https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/blame_2017/|accessdate=June 22, 2017}} 6. ^{{cite web |url = http://www.metacritic.com/movie/blame |title = Blame Reviews|work = Metacritic |publisher = CBS Interactive |accessdate = February 3, 2018 }} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.indiewire.com/2017/04/blame-review-quinn-shephard-tribeca-1201809985/|title=‘Blame’ Review: Quinn Shephard Makes a Strong First Impression in Her Debut as Writer, Director, and Star|last=Nordine|first=Michael|date=2017-04-30|work=IndieWire|access-date=2018-02-07}} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/04/movies/blame-review-quinn-shephard.html|title=Review: ‘Blame’ Conjures ‘Carrie,’ but Without Telekinesis|last=Kenny|first=Glenn|date=2018|work=The New York Times|access-date=2018-02-07|issn=0362-4331}} 9. ^{{Cite news|url=http://filmmakermagazine.com/102286-tribeca-2017-five-questions-with-blame-director-quinn-shephard/#.WnqNE0tG23e|title=Tribeca 2017: Five Questions with Blame Director Quinn Shephard|last=Astle|first=Randy|work=Filmmaker|access-date=2018-02-07}} 10. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/blame-review-996508|title='Blame': Film Review {{!}} Tribeca 2017|work=The Hollywood Reporter|access-date=2018-02-11}} 11. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.awardscircuit.com/2017/04/03/2017-line-announced-montclair-film-festival-featuring-john-turturro-bill-nye-fake-news-panel/ |title=2017 Montclair Film Festival Line-Up Announced |author=Clayton Davis |date=April 3, 2017 |accessdate=March 9, 2018}} 12. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.greenwichfilm.org/2017-schedule/ |title=2017 Festival Schedule |accessdate=March 9, 2018}} External links{{Portal|Film in the United States}}
