The main goal of the project is to create the most complete non-profit online library. [1][2] BookFi was once temporarily pulled off from the Internet as the publish giant Elsevier had beated them in the New York District Court. Nevertheless, BookFi along with other partners believing in open-source movement and free-culture movement soon gained support from many scientists and scholars who also appealed to the public for the notion that access to academic researches should not be controlled by large academic publishers with price tag. Upon that, BookFi resumed operation few days subsequent to the court order.[3][4][5] See also
