He was awarded his GM title by FIDE in April 2018,[4] becoming the fourteenth and—at age 36—oldest Icelander to achieve the title.[5][6] He is the No. 11 ranked Icelandic player as of March 2018.[7] Personal lifeBragi is the younger brother of IM and journalist Björn Þorfinnsson. Bragi is not a professional chess player, and works full-time as a school teacher.
