It lies in the southeast of the Steinernes Meer, at the crossing to the Hochkönig. After the Selbhorn ({{Höhe|2655}}) and Schönfeldspitze ({{Höhe|2653}}) the Brandhorn is the third highest peak in the Steinernes Meer.
