释义 |
Bransby was the son Dr Samuel Cooper, a Church of England clergyman and grandson of Maria Susanna Bransby, the author of several novels. At an early age he resolved to join the Royal Navy, signing on as a midshipman on HMS Stately in 1805. However, he suffered from sea-sickness to such an extent he had to abandon any nautical career.[2] He was influenced by his uncle, Astley Cooper to enter medicine.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Cooper, Bransby Blake - Biographical entry - Plarr's Lives of the Fellows Online|url=http://livesonline.rcseng.ac.uk/biogs/E001262b.htm|website=livesonline.rcseng.ac.uk|publisher=Royal College of Surgeons of|language=en-gb}} 2. ^{{cite journal|title=Biographical Sketch of Bransby Blake Cooper, Esq.
