The population was 884 at the 2010 census,[1] up from 800 at the 2000 census. HistoryWhite Plains was established in 1853, and was originally known as "Little Prairie." When the postmaster of the Christian County community renamed it "Fruit Hill," the "New" was dropped from the name of the Hopkins County city.[2][3] GeographyWhite Plains is located in southeastern Hopkins County at {{coord|37|11|4|N|87|23|5|W|type:city}} (37.184489, -87.384739).[4] U.S. Route 62 passes through the northern part of the community, leading east {{convert|13|mi}} to Greenville and west {{convert|4|mi|0}} to Nortonville.
