On September 2, 2014, Pounds released his new EP, Strikes and Gutters.[5] The five-song album features original songs as well as a cover of Shane Bartell's "Sunday Dress.”[6] Strikes and Gutters is the follow-up to Pounds’ debut full-length album, After You’re Gone. Reviews of Strikes and Gutters which came out, in 2010, drew comparisons between Pounds and James Taylor.[7][8] Pounds wrote "Jesus, Don’t Let Me Die (On My Feet)" in the middle of a disastrous two-week gig at a rundown casino in Nevada.[6] The EP’s opening track, "Someday Maybe Carolina" written with fellow The Voice Season-5 competitor Austin Jenckes, currently has more than 9,000 views on YouTube. In July 2015, the Calgary Herald compared Pounds to singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt.[9] References1. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.ydtalk.com/idolchatteryd/meet-brian-pounds-of-team-blake-on-the-voice/ |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20131019031224/http://www.ydtalk.com/idolchatteryd/meet-brian-pounds-of-team-blake-on-the-voice/ |dead-url= yes |archive-date= 2013-10-19 |title= Meet Brian Pounds of Team Blake On The Voice |publisher= Ytalk.com }} {{DEFAULTSORT:Pounds, Brian}}2. ^{{Cite web |url = http://m.newsok.com/article/3896444 |date =October 22, 2013 |title= Video: Enid-Born Brian Pounds Eliminated During Monday's "The Voice" Battle Round |publisher =News Ok |last =McDonnell |first =Brandy }} 3. ^{{Cite web|url = http://cabletv.com/blog/brian-pounds-of-the-voice-2013-reveals-audition-secrets-and-more/|title = Brian Pounds of The Voice 2013 Reveals Audition Secrets and More|date = December 6, 2013|accessdate = |publisher = Cable TV|last = Robinson|first = Mandy|deadurl = yes|archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20150916140726/http://cabletv.com/blog/brian-pounds-of-the-voice-2013-reveals-audition-secrets-and-more/|archivedate = September 16, 2015|df = }} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/07/11/calgary-audience-happily-welcomes-blake-shelton-to-his-first-stampede-concert |title= Calgary Audience Happily Welcomes Blake Shelton to His First Stampede Concert |work=Calgary Sun |date=July 10, 2015 |last=Sergejew |first=Kyla}} 5. ^{{cite web |title= Brian Pounds bio page |url= http://www.brianpounds.com/bio/}} 6. ^1 {{cite web |title= Honky Tonk Hacienda: Brennen Leigh & Joel McKay, Brian Pounds |url= http://www.elcidla.com/event/770291-honky-tonk-hacienda-brennen-los-angeles/ |publisher=El Cid LA |date= Feb 2015 |accessdate= 2016-03-27}} 7. ^{{cite web |title= Brian Pounds rolls a strike with new release |url= http://themusicenthusiast.tumblr.com/post/92614853635/brian-pounds-rolls-a-strike-with-new-release |publisher= The Music Enthusiast}} 8. ^{{Cite web |title= Brian Pounds rolls with Strikes and Gutters |url=http://www.cmtedge.com/2014/09/02/brian-pounds-rolls-with-strikes-and-gutters/ |work= CMTedge.com |date=2 Sep 2014 }} 9. ^{{cite web |title=Blake Shelton's voice rings strong, loud and sensational during Stampede Saddledome show |url= https://calgaryherald.com/entertainment/music/blake-sheltons-voice-rings-strong-loud-and-sensational-during-stampede-saddledome-show |work=The Calgary Herald |date= July 2015}} 5 : Living people|Musicians from Austin, Texas|American singer-songwriters|Year of birth missing (living people)|Songwriters from Texas |
