He is known for his performance on the FX series Atlanta, as well as the 2018 films Widows, If Beale Street Could Talk and Into the Spider-Verse. Early lifeHenry was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina and raised partly in Washington, D.C. His father was in the military, and his mother, Willow Dean Kearse, was an educator.[1][4] Henry attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia as a business major-turned-actor in the early 2000s, and received his master's degree from Yale School of Drama.[5] CareerHenry was part of the original cast of The Book of Mormon.[6] His work in Lobby Hero on Broadway earned him a nomination for the 2018 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play.[7] His television roles include Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles in Atlanta, for which he received a nomination for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Tavis Brown in Vice Principals. In 2017, Henry guest starred in the NBC TV series This is Us in the episode "Memphis" as Ricky, receiving a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2018, he was cast to star in Child's Play, a reboot of the 1988 film.[8] Personal lifeHenry's mother, Willow Deane Kearse, died in early 2016.
