It is the home field of the Boston College Eagles baseball team of the ACC. The stadium is newly constructed for the 2018 season and is located on Boston College's Brighton campus, which encompasses much of the lands formerly belonging to Saint John's Seminary. The stadium replaced Shea Field, Boston College baseball's previous home from 1961-2017, which was located on the university's main campus adjacent to Alumni Stadium.[1][2] Brighton Field was slated to open on March 13, 2018 in Boston College's home opener against Holy Cross but was cancelled due to a nor'easter.[3] The stadium opened a week later on March 20, 2018, when the Eagles hosted cross-town opponents Northeastern in a non-conference matchup that Northeastern won 7-4 in 18 innings. The stadium and adjacent softball field and intramural fields were dedicated on April 14, 2018, and named for Boston College trustee John L. Harrington, BC '57 and former CEO of the Boston Red Sox.[4] Stadium Firsts
