It is found in the western Indian Ocean (coast of Kenya), the western Pacific Ocean from the Philippines to Fiji, and from Japan to the Great Barrier Reef, in Australia.[1] Planktonic juveniles are found in the upper 200m of 610-7120m deep waters. The adult stage of this species is found among coral reefs to depths of 8m, and can grow to lengths of 4.3 cm.[2] It is ovoviviparous, with the males carrying eggs in brood pouches until they are ready to hatch.[2] It is a small secretive species which prefers to live among the galaxy coral Galaxea fascicularis.[3] References1. ^1 2 {{cite journal | author1 = Austin, D. | author2 = Pollom, R. | last-author-amp = yes | year = 2016 | title = Bulbonaricus davaoensis (errata version published in 2017) | journal = The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume = 2016 | page = e.T65363869A115411185 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2016-3.RLTS.T65363869A67618988.en }} 2. ^1 {{FishBase|Bulbanaricus|davaoensis|month=February|year=2018}} 3. ^{{cite web | url = http://fishesofaustralia.net.au/home/species/3167 | title = Davao Pughead Pipefish, Bulbonaricus davaoensis (Herald 1953) | accessdate = 23 May 2018 | work = Fishes of Australia | author1 = Dianne J.
