It is located on the south side of Highway 11 on Oro-Medonte's 8th Line, between Barrie and Orillia. It most notably holds the Boots and Hearts Music Festival in August each summer, and the Barrie Automotive Flea Market each June and September. HistorySpanning over 585 acres of open green space, Burl's Creek Event Grounds is the largest outdoor music venue in Canada. The grounds have been home to WayHome Music & Arts Festival, Boots and Hearts Music Festival, OK Friday Farmer's Market, The Big Feastival Canada, Huronia Fur and Feathers Swap Sale, and the long-running spring and fall Barrie Automotive Flea Markets. Operating as an event park since 1984, Burl's Creek changed ownership in 2014. Subsequent site alterations and landscaping developed three natural turf amphitheatres for optimal concert viewing. A 1930s-era timber-framed barn was carefully retrofitted into a centerpiece. Cat 5 Fibre cable was installed throughout the grounds, which are serviced by an independent cellular system. Burl's Creek sits at the gateway to Ontario's cottage country along Highway 11. Situated in Simcoe County, the venue is 1 hour from the Greater Toronto Area, 45 minutes to Muskoka, and under 15 minutes to Barrie or Orillia. The grounds are accessed via three separate concession roads with connection to two highway overpasses and the historic Ridge Road running from Barrie to Orillia. Simcoe North Regional Airport, with full customs services, is a few kilometers away. Visitors to Burl's Creek Event Grounds have much to enjoy in the region. In close proximity are the hills of Oro-Medonte, with 4 major ski resorts: Horseshoe Resort, Mt. St. Louis, Snow Valley and Hardwood Hills are famous for alpine and cross country skiing, and off terrain mountain biking. Lake Simcoe with beach and boat launch are a few kilometers to the south for summer or winter fishing. Casino Rama is 25 minutes north, just past Orillia, and Barrie is the adjacent township to the west.
