Butler Island is a river island in Ware County, in the U.S. state of Georgia.^[1]

Butler Island was named after its original owner, Pierce Butler (1744–1822) a U.S. Senator and Founding Father from South Carolina.^[2] Pierce Butler's Butler Island Plantation once occupied the entire island, where he kept hundreds of slaves.^[3]
