It has a single leaf and one or two pale yellow to greenish cream and white flowers with dull red stripes. it is a rare species, only known from near Collie. DescriptionCaladenia leucochila is a terrestrial, perennial, deciduous, herb with an underground tuber and which grows as solitary plants. It has a single, erect leaf, {{convert|120-200|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|4-11|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide with reddish-purple blotches near its base. One or two pale yellow to greenish cream and white flowers with dull red stripes {{convert|40-60|mm|in|sigfig=2|abbr=on}} in diameter are borne on a stalk {{convert|120-400|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} tall. The sepals and petals are linear to lance-shaped for about half their length then suddenly narrow. The sepals, but usually not the petals, end with yellowish-brown, club-like glandular tips {{convert|10-12|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long. The dorsal sepal is erect but curves forward slightly, {{convert|25-35|mm|in|sigfig=2|abbr=on}} long and about {{convert|2|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide. The lateral sepals are {{convert|35-40|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and about {{convert|3|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide and held close to horizontal, sometimes with a drooping tip. The petals are {{convert|25-30|mm|in|sigfig=2|abbr=on}} long and about {{convert|2|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide, held like the lateral sepals and usually lack club-like tips. The labellum is {{convert|10-15|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|7-9|mm|in|sigfig=2|abbr=on}} wide and white with the tip rolled under. The sides of the labellum have long, forward-facing white or red linear teeth decreasing in size towards the front of the labellum. There are four to six rows of yellow or red hockey stick-shaped calli up to {{convert|1.5|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long along the centre line of the labellum but decreasing in size towards the tip. Flowering occurs from September to October.[1]Taxonomy and namingCaladenia leucochila was first described in 2001 by Andrew Brown, Ryan Phillips and Garry Brockman from a specimen collected near Collie and the description was published in Nuytsia.[2] The specific epithet (leucochila) is derived from the Ancient Greek words λευκός leukos meaning "white"[3]{{rp|856}} and χεῖλος cheilos meaning "lip"[3]{{rp|200}} referring to the white labellum.[1]Distribution and habitatThis caladenia is only known from the Collie district in the Jarrah Forest biogeographic region where it grows in sandy soil in open forest and scrub.[1][4] ConservationCaladenia leucochila is classified as "Threatened Flora (Declared Rare Flora — Extant)" by the Western Australian Government Department of Parks and Wildlife.[4]References1. ^1 2 {{cite journal|last1=Brown|first1=Andrew P.|last2=Brockman|first2=Garry|title=New taxa of Caladenia (Orchidaceae) from south-west Western Australia|journal=Nuytsia|date=2015|volume=25|pages=83–86}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q26255052}}2. ^1 {{cite web|title=Caladenia leucochila|url=https://id.biodiversity.org.au/instance/apni/3896933|publisher=APNI|accessdate=14 February 2017}} 3. ^1 {{cite book|last1=Brown|first1=Roland Wilbur|title=The Composition of Scientific Words|date=1956|publisher=Smithsonian Institution Press|location=Washington, D.C.}} 4. ^1 {{FloraBase|name=Caladenia leucochila|id=44903}} 6 : Caladenia|Orchids of Western Australia|Endemic orchids of Australia|Plants described in 2015|Endemic flora of Western Australia|Taxa named by Andrew Phillip Brown |
