It has a single hairy leaf and one or two relatively large creamy-white to pale yellow flowers. It is relatively common in moist soil around granite outcrops, growing in more inland areas than most other spider orchids. DescriptionCaladenia remota subsp. remota is a terrestrial, perennial, deciduous, herb with an underground tuber and a single erect, hairy leaf, {{convert|150-170|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and about {{convert|5|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide. One or two cream-coloured to creamy-yellow flowers {{convert|90-140|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|60-80|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide are borne on a spike {{convert|150-250|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} tall. The sepals and petals have long, brown, thread-like tips. The dorsal sepal is erect, {{convert|55-90|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|2-5|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide. The lateral sepals are {{convert|55-90|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|4-5|mm|in|sigfig=2|abbr=on}} wide, spread apart and turned downwards. The petals are {{convert|55-80|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|2-3|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide and spread horizontally near their bases but then turn downwards. The labellum is {{convert|13-18|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} long, {{convert|11-12|mm|in|sigfig=1|abbr=on}} wide and cream coloured with red lines and marks. The sides of the labellum have many short blunt teeth, the tip curls under and there are two rows of anvil-shaped, white calli, sometimes with red tips, along its centre. Flowering occurs from August to mid December.[1][2][3]Taxonomy and namingCaladenia remota was first described in 2001 by Stephen Hopper and Andrew Phillip Brown and the description was published in Nuytsia.
