The present lighthouse was erected by the Republic of China government in 1949[1] to help guide shipping and received its present black-and-white octagonal tower in 1962.[5] It was opened to the public in 2015, but entry is only permitted on the weekends as it remains an active radar station of the Republic of China Air Force.[1] ParkCape Fugui or Fuguijiao Park surrounds the headland.[6] It includes a rocky beach with ventifacts (wind-shaped rocks)[6] and lush tropical vegetation.[1] There is a walking trail around the cape from Fuji Harbor (t{{nbsp}}{{lang|zh|{{linktext|富基|漁港}}}}, s{{nbsp}}{{lang|zh|{{linktext|富基|渔港}}}}, Fùjī Yúgǎng) to Laomei Village[6] and the brick Laomei Maze.{{sfnp|NTC|2019|loc=[https://tour.ntpc.gov.tw/en-us/Attraction/Detail?wnd_id=85&id=402846 "Laomei Maze"]}}{{sfnp|NTC|2019|loc=[https://tour.ntpc.gov.tw/en-us/News/Detail?wnd_id=167&type=6&id=d6a2cc02f14310ec "Awesome Positive Energy!
