BiographyDonaugh was born in 1900 in Portland, Oregon.[1] He served as secretary of the Democratic Party of Oregon from 1926 until 1928, and as state party chair from 1930 until 1934.[2] He was also a delegate to the 1932 Democratic National Convention. Donaugh served as U.S. Attorney for the United States District Court for the District of Oregon from 1933 until 1945.[1] Donaugh also made several unsuccessful runs for political office; first for U.S. Senate in 1938, losing in the Democratic primary. In 1946, he was the Democratic nominee for governor. He lost to Earl Snell with 31% of the vote.[3] In 1950, Donaugh ran for the U.S. House in Oregon's 3rd congressional district. He lost to incumbent Republican Homer D. Angell with 44% of the vote.[4] Donaugh became engaged to Viva Owens Todd in 1940.[5] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://politicalgraveyard.com/geo/OR/baptist.html|title=Baptist Politicians in Oregon|publisher=Political Graveyard|accessdate=May 7, 2017}} {{s-start}}{{s-ppo}}{{s-bef|before=Lew Wallace}}{{s-ttl|title=Democratic nominee for Governor of Oregon|years=1946}}{{s-aft|after=Lew Wallace}}{{s-end}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Donaugh, Carl C.}}2. ^{{cite book|title=The Oregon Blue Book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=-89KAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA3-PA42|year=1921|publisher=Secretary of State|page=42}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ourcampaigns.com/RaceDetail.html?RaceID=173722|title=OR Governor Race - November 5, 1946|author=|publisher=Our Campaigns|accessdate=January 23, 2011}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.ourcampaigns.com/pages/RaceDetail.html?RaceID=454795|title=OR - District 03 1950|publisher=Our Campaigns|accessdate=May 7, 2017}} 5. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/96318902/|title=Carl Donaugh to Wed Viva Todd|newspaper=Daily Capital Journal|date=August 12, 1940|accessdate=May 7, 2017}} 6 : 1900 births|1965 deaths|Oregon Democrats|Democratic Party of Oregon chairs|United States Attorneys for the District of Oregon|Politicians from Portland, Oregon |
