Considered a National Historic Landmark, it is the official headquarters for the veneration of the Our Lady of Sorrows under the localized title of "Virgin of Help", which annually receives thousands of parishioners who attend devoutly to pay homage to the patron saint of Valencia. In the beginning, the temple we know today was considered a parish church; later in 1921 with the creation of the Diocese of the city of Valencia, it then became Cathedral. Later, Monsignor Adam in charge of the Diocese, the Cathedral was awarded the title of Minor Basilica granted by Pope John XXIII,[4] because of the great artistic value that has the sanctuary and especially for being the final resting place of the image of the Virgin Relief, which was held Canonical Coronation in 13 November 1910, and whose faith and devotion is followed by thousands of faithful.
