It has a masthead sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder and a fixed fin keel. The fixed fin keel version displaces {{convert|12000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|5000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of lead ballast. The centerboard version displaces {{convert|12800|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|5900|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of lead ballast.[1] The boat has a draft of {{convert|5.92|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard fin keel. A stub keel and centerboard was optional. That version of the boat has a draft of {{convert|7.50|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centreboard extended and {{convert|4.00|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted.[1] The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar 3QM30 diesel engine. The fuel tank holds {{convert|20|u.s.gal}} and the fresh water tank has a capacity of {{convert|38|u.s.gal}}.[1] The fix keel version has a PHRF racing average handicap of 132 with a high of 144 and low of 126.
