| image = Leadwort, Hardy Blue Plumbago (Ceratostigma plumbaginoides).jpg | taxon = Ceratostigma plumbaginoides | authority = Bunge[1] }}Ceratostigma plumbaginoides (蓝雪花), the hardy blue-flowered leadwort, is a species of flowering plant in the plumbago family, native to Western China (Beijing Shi, Henan, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Zhejiang), where it is usually found in rocky foothills.[2] Growing to {{convert|50 |cm|in|abbr=on}} tall and broad, it is a mat-forming herbaceous perennial with small ovoid leaves and bright blue flowers in late summer and early autumn. The leaves may turn red or purple before falling. The Latin specific epithet plumbaginoides signifies its resemblance to plants in the closely related genus Plumbago.[3] Ceratostigma plumbaginoides is grown as an ornamental plant in temperate climates, valued for its late season colour. It is hardy down to {{convert|-10|C|F|abbr=on}}, but prefers a sunny, sheltered position in moist, well-drained soil. As it can become invasive, it is particularly suited to growing in a pot, or crevices in a dry stone wall.[4] It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.[5][6]EtymologyCeratostigma is derived from Greek, meaning 'horned stigma’. This is in reference to the ‘shape of the stigmatic surface’.[7]References1. ^{{cite web | url= http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl1.1/record/kew-2711291| title= Ceratostigma plumbaginoides Bunge | publisher= The Plant List | accessdate = 29 October 2018}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q2946389}}2. ^{{cite web | url = http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200017490 | title = Ceratostigma plumbaginoides Bunge | publisher = Flora of China | accessdate = 29 October 2018}} 3. ^{{cite book | last=Harrison |first=Lorraine | title=RHS Latin for Gardeners | year=2012 |publisher=Mitchell Beazley | location=United Kingdom | isbn=184533731X }} 4. ^{{Citation| last = Klein| first = Carol| author-link = Carol Klein| title = How to grow: Ceratostigma| newspaper = The Telegraph| date = 30 October 2004| url = https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/3324366/How-to-grow-Ceratostigma.html| access-date = 29 October 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/3410/i-Ceratostigma-plumbaginoides-i/Details| title = RHS Plantfinder - Ceratostigma plumbaginoides | accessdate = 29 October 2018}} 6. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/pdfs/agm-lists/agm-ornamentals.pdf | title = AGM Plants - Ornamental | date = July 2017 | page = 17 | publisher = Royal Horticultural Society | accessdate = 29 October 2018}} 7. ^Gledhill, David (2008).
