Children and Ponds is a 1979 British public information film about the dangers of unsupervised toddlers and young children drowning in garden ponds. The voice-over narration is by Jesus of Nazareth actor Robert Powell. SynopsisThe film opens with a female child, of about two or three years old with shoulder-length blonde hair, going out into her back garden to play. Several shots of her exploration and play are intertwined with a pleasant soundtrack. As the baby/toddler girl approaches the garden pond, the soundtrack abruptly changes to a sinister musical track followed by a splash and a shot of the doll the child had been carrying washed up in the centre ornament of the pond. The narrator then discusses various ways of keeping children safe near garden ponds, such as covering them with a strong steel mesh, or draining them and turning them into a sandpit until the child is old enough.
