Following the settlement of Oliver Cromwell's forces, the church fell into disrepair.[3] In 1850, Father Gerald Robbins was appointed as parish priest, he came into possession of a former public house, which he converted into a Parochial house. This building is today in use as the gymnasium of the local school.
