Football careerFrancisleide dos Santos Barbosa was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,[1] on February 27, 1990.[1] She is better known as Chú Santos,[2] or simply Chú.[3] When she was seven years old, Santos told her grandfather that she enjoyed playing football; in response, he took her to a training school. She was initially told that the sport was only for boys, but Santos continued to pursue her career.[4] She was part of the São José Esporte Clube team which won the International Women's Club Championship, defeating English team Arsenal W.F.C. in the final. This was the first time that a Brazilian team had won the competition.[3][5] In 2015, she was named as part of the initial squad of the shared women's team between Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and Grêmio Osasco Audax Esporte Clube, known as Corinthians / Audax.[6] When the team made their debut in the Copa do Brasil de Futebol Feminino, Santos scored five times in the 9–0 defeat of Pinheirense Esporte Clube.[7] Santos scored a further two goals in the next two games in the tournament,[2] The team went on to win the tournament, with Santos recording twelve goals during the single tournament, making her a top scorer.[8] The record for number of goals scored in the tournament, is held by Marta, with 18.[2] She was then signed by Danish club Fortuna Hjørring, whose manager, Brian Sørensen, described her as "a complete player".[9] During her time in Denmark, she only played in two matches; both legs of the quarter final of the UEFA Women's Champions League against Manchester City W.F.C. of England.[1][10] Santos then resigned for Sao Jose.[3] InternationalSantos was first called up to the Brazil women's national football team at the age of 21 in 2012 as part of the main selection round of the team for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.[11] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Francisleide Dos Santos Barbosa|url=http://www.uefa.com/teamsandplayers/players/player=250107154/profile/index.html|publisher=UEFA|accessdate=November 6, 2017}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Santos, Chu}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Chú Santos: "Confiança para disputar a competição"|url=https://www.cbf.com.br/noticias/campeonato-copa-brasil-feminino/chu-santos-confianca-para-disputar-a-competicao|publisher=Confederação Brasileira de Futebol|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=September 12, 2016|language=Portuguese}} 3. ^1 2 3 {{cite news|title=São José anuncia retorno da atacante Chú, campeã mundial em 2014|url=http://globoesporte.globo.com/sp/vale-do-paraiba-regiao/noticia/2017/04/sao-jose-anuncia-retorno-da-atacante-chu-campea-mundial-pela-aguia.html|accessdate=November 6, 2017|work=Globo.com|date=April 11, 2017|language=Portuguese}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Conheca a Chu Santos Atacante Convocada Pela Tecnica Emily Lim|url=http://www.bolabrasilmulher.com.br/conheca-a-chu-santos-atacante-convocada-pela-tecnica-emily-lima/|publisher=BBM|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=December 1, 2017|language=Portuguese}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=São José vence Arsenal e conquista Mundial Feminino de clubes no Japão|url=http://globoesporte.globo.com/sp/vale-do-paraiba-regiao/noticia/2014/12/sao-jose-vence-arsenal-e-conquista-mundial-feminino-de-clubes-no-japao.html|accessdate=November 6, 2017|work=Globo.com|date=December 6, 2014|language=Portuguese}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Por time feminino, Corinthians faz parceria com Grêmio Osasco Audax|url=http://maquinadoesporte.uol.com.br/artigo/por-time-feminino-corinthians-faz-parceria-com-gremio-osasco-audax_29655.html|publisher=Maquina do Esporte|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=January 7, 2016|language=Portuguese}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Com 5 gols de Chú Santos, Audax/Corinthians goleia em estreia na Copa do Brasil|url=https://www.corinthians.com.br/noticias/ver/60537|publisher=Corinthians|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=August 31, 2016|language=Portuguese}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=ROMERO HOMENAGEIA CHÚ SANTOS, ARTILHEIRA E CAMPEÃ DA COPA DO BRASIL PELO AUDAX/CORINTHIANS|url=https://www.meutimao.com.br/noticia/229419/romero-homenageia-chu-santos-artilheira-e-campea-da-copa-do-brasil-pelo-audaxcorinthians|publisher=Meu Timao|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=November 3, 2016}} 9. ^{{cite web|last1=Henrikson|first1=Niels|title=Hurtig brasilianer til Fortuna|url=http://vendelboposten.dk/hurtig-brasilianer-til-fortuna/|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=February 6, 2017|language=Danish}} 10. ^{{cite web|title=Chú|url=http://www.thefinalball.com/player.php?id=432967|publisher=The Final Ball|accessdate=November 6, 2017}} 11. ^{{cite web|title=Chu: primeira vez na Principal|url=https://selecao.cbf.com.br/noticias/selecao-feminina/chu-primeira-vez-na-principal|publisher=Confederação Brasileira de Futebol|accessdate=November 6, 2017|date=January 26, 2012|language=Portuguese}} 11 : Living people|1990 births|Brazilian women's footballers|Women's association football forwards|Saad Esporte Clube (women) players|São José Esporte Clube (women) players|Suwon FMC WFC players|Fortuna Hjørring players|Expatriate women's footballers in South Korea|Expatriate women's footballers in Denmark|People from Rio de Janeiro (city) |
