In the Indian state of Jharkhand, films are produced in various regional and tribal languages including Hindi, Nagpuri, Khortha and Santali. [1] [2] Film industry in state of Jharkhand is also known as Jhollywood.[3][4] Since 2015, Government of Jharkhand is encouraging film shooting in State to highlight the natural beauty, religious place, culture of the state as well as to produce jobs by giving subsidy to film makers.[5][6][7] In recent years several hindi film have shooted in the state including The Untold Story, A Death in the Gunj, Ajab singh ki gajab kahani, Ranchi Diaries, Panchlait and Ilaka Kishoreganj. Several nagpuri film produced in recent year including Tor Bina, Mahuaa and Mor Gaon Mor Desh.[8][9] The upcoming hindi film Lohardaga will show issue of Naxalism and surrender policy in the State.[10][11] HistoryThe first feature film of Jharkhand was Aakarant made under the banner of drishyantar international, 1988. The first Nagpuri flim was Sona Kar Nagpur (1992) produced and directed by Dhananjay Nath Tiwari.[12][13][14] Notable people
AwardThe Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards (JIFFA)In, The Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards (JIFFA), 2018, organised at the Ranchi Press club. 42 film personalities from Jharkhand received JIFFA awards. Nagpuri musical exponent, Mukund Nayak, was the Chief Guest. Gautam Singh received award for Khortha language film Gaon, in the category of Best Feature Film. In category of Best Director for Children, Satish Pai and Rahul Tigga received award for the short film, PumPum, for cinematography and editing respectively.Filmmaker razik Khan received best short-film in regional award for his mundari s.film Hai pase.The winner for the Best Music Composer in Nagpuri Music, Tej Mundu received award for his contribution towards music in Jharkhand. Filmmaker Vinod Kumar received award for his film Aakrant(1988). Sandip Kulshetra received the Best Cinematographer Award, Raju Soni received the Best Jury Award for Documentary Hindi Film, Dance Dosti and School and Sanjay lal received the Award for 365 Plays in a Year. Several celebrities from Bollywood, eminent personalities of India and abroad were present at occasion.
