College careerFerrell was a 4-star recruit out of high school, and was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in Virginia, the No. 7 weak-side defensive end, and the No. 101 prospect in the country by 247 Sports.[1] After a redshirt sophomore season in which he led Clemson in tackles for loss with 17 and sacks with 8.5, Ferrell was named to the 2017 College Football All-America Team.[2] On January 13, 2018, Ferrell announced that he would return to Clemson for his junior season.[3] On January 11, 2019, Ferrell announced that he would forgo his final year of eligibility and declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.[4] College statistics
