}}Coco Guzmán, known also as Coco Riot[2] is a queer visual artist of Spanish origin, who is internationally known for her activism and artistic exploration of gender equality and feminist issues.[2][4]

Guzmán was born in 1979 in Murcia, a small city in Southern Spain, and grew up in a family of scientists. At 19, she moved to France for higher education and became involved in feminist, queer, and anarchist movements in Europe.[3] After obtaining a Master of Arts in Comparative Medieval Literature[4][7] at Paris VIII University in 2003, she began exploring queer graphic novel as an artistic medium.[5] Guzmán was accepted to a prestigious French art school, the Toulouse Fine Arts Academy, to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts.[6][7] She moved to Montreal (Canada) in 2008 and currently lives in Toronto and teaches at Seneca College and Lakehead University.[11]

Her favourite comfort food is Spanish ham on top of tomato toasts.[1]
