释义 |
HistoryColtharp was founded by a store and mill owner who settled in the area before the 1860's (probably around 1857, when a post office was first settled there). By 1891, there were Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian congregations, a school, several mills, a gunsmith, and a blacksmith in Coltharp. A year later, a constable, 2 justices, and a doctor arrived in the town and had a population of 100. 5 years later, the population dwindled to 75, but jumped back up to 115 in 1900, the last time there was a population estimate. The town apparently was abandoned by 1946 because it no longer appeared on the highway map.[3] EducationColtharp School was founded no later than 1884 and closed in 1925. Today, any students in the area is zoned in the Kennard Independent School District.[4][5] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/rhc14|title=COCHINO BAYOU|last=CHRISTOPHER|first=LONG,|date=2010-06-12|website=tshaonline.org|language=en|access-date=2018-04-21}} {{Houston County, Texas}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.google.com/maps/place/31%C2%B024'00.0%22N+95%C2%B011'00.0%22W/@31.4,-95.1855273,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d31.4!4d-95.1833333|title=Google Maps|website=Google Maps|access-date=2018-04-21}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/hvc66|title=COLTHARP, TX|last=MIKE|first=SMALLEY,|date=2010-06-12|website=tshaonline.org|language=en|access-date=2018-04-21}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/hvc66|title=COLTHARP, TX|last=MIKE|first=SMALLEY,|date=2010-06-12|website=tshaonline.org|language=en|access-date=2018-04-21}} 5. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.maptechnica.com/school-district-map/TX/Kennard%20Independent%20School%20District/unsd/4825470|title=Kennard ISD :: School District Map of the Kennard ISD :: MapTechnica|website=www.maptechnica.com|access-date=2018-04-21}} 1 : Houston County, Texas |
