HistoryFormed in 1961 from the merger of Ahavai Shalom and Neveh Zedek Talmud Torah, the latter of which was also a merger of Neveh Zedek and Talmud Torah in 1902. All 4 temples were located in South Portland. Ahavai Shalom was founded in 1869, Talmud Torah was founded in 1883, and in 1900 Neveh Zedek was established.[4] It is the second oldest Jewish congregation in the Pacific Northwest and the oldest Conservative congregation on the West Coast.[5] Senator Robert F.
