释义 |
The Constitution (Removal of Oath) Act, 1933 was an act amending the Constitution of the Irish Free State, consequent on the election of an anti-Treaty Fianna Fáil government in 1932. The act removed the requirement in the Constitution for members of the Oireachtas to swear an oath to the Crown, represented by King George V as King of Ireland. It also purportedly[1] removed the requirement in the Constitution Act that constitutional amendments could only be made within the terms of the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty, and repealed s. 2 of the Act which gave the Treaty superior status to the Constitution.[2] The Act became obsolete on the repeal of the 1922 Constitution in 1937, and has formally been repealed by the Statute Law Revision Act 2016.[3] References1. ^https://www.ria.ie/sites/default/files/introduction-to-the-origins-of-the-irish-constitution.pdf {{Ireland-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/1933/act/6/enacted/en/print.html|title=Constitution (Removal of Oath) Act, 1933|publisher=|accessdate=31 December 2016}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/acts-of-yore-the-outdated-laws-that-have-been-repealed-1.2884180?mode=amp|title=Acts of yore: The outdated laws that have been repealed|publisher=|accessdate=31 December 2016}} 4 : Acts of the Oireachtas 1933|Constitution of the Irish Free State|Amendments to the Constitution of the Irish Free State|Ireland and the Commonwealth of Nations |
