The Orroroo Carrieton section consists of a diagonal rural strip of the cadastral Hundred of Coomooroo separating the towns of Morchard and Walloway, with narrow strips of the Hundreds of Eurelia and Pinda at its north-western end.[1] The locality is named after the hundred, which in turn was named by Governor Anthony Musgrave in 1875 after a word for "small food seeds" in an Aboriginal language. The area had locally been known as Poverty Corner, but was formally named Coomooroo at the request of the Mount Remarkable council.[2] The historic Pekina Run Ruins, located at the south-eastern tip of Coomooroo, are listed on the South Australian Heritage Register.[3][1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 7 {{cite web | url=http://www.location.sa.gov.au/viewer/ | title=Search result(s) for Coomooroo, 5431 | publisher=Government of South Australia | work=Location SA Map Viewer | accessdate=16 February 2016}} {{Towns and localities in District Council of Orroroo Carrieton}}{{District Council of Mount Remarkable localities}}2. ^{{cite web | url=http://maps.sa.gov.au/plb/# | title=Search result(s) for Coomooroo, 5431 | publisher=Government of South Australia | work=Property Location Browser | accessdate=17 February 2016 | deadurl=yes | archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20161012010923/http://maps.sa.gov.au/plb/ | archivedate=12 October 2016 | df=dmy-all }} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://maps.sa.gov.au/heritagesearch/HeritageItem.aspx?p_heritageno=15999 | title=Pekina Run Ruins (designated place of archaeological significance) | publisher=Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources | work=South Australian Heritage Register | accessdate=19 March 2016}} 1 : Towns in South Australia |
