To promote the album, Dion will embark on the Courage World Tour in September 2019. Background and developmentIn November 2013, Dion released her previous English-language studio album, Loved Me Back to Life.[1] The next month, her husband René Angélil was diagnosed with throat cancer and underwent surgery.[2] In June 2014, Angélil stepped down as Dion's manager to focus on his health and in August 2014 Dion postponed her show business activities, because of the worsening of her husband's health.[3][4] Angélil died on 14 January 2016.[5] In May 2016, Dion performed "The Show Must Go On" during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, where she received the Billboard Icon Award.[6] In August 2016, she released her French-language album, Encore un soir to critical and commercial success.[7] The next month, she premiered "Recovering", a song written by Pink in honor of Dion's late husband.[8] She performed it during the Stand Up to Cancer Live Event on 9 September 2016.[8] It was announced that "Recovering" will be featured on Dion's upcoming English-language album.[8] In March 2017, Dion's "How Does a Moment Last Forever" was released on the Beauty and the Beast: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.[9] Dion also embarked on two summer tours in Canada and Europe in 2016 and 2017.[10][11] In 2018, she released "Ashes" from the American superhero film Deadpool 2 and toured Asia, Australia and New Zealand.[12][13] In September 2018, Dion announced the end of her Las Vegas residency Celine, with the final date set for 8 June 2019.[14] On 3 April 2019, she announced her 2019/2020 Courage World Tour, beginning in Quebec City, Canada on 18 September 2019.[15][16] Dion also announced a new English-language album of the same name, to be released in November 2019.[15][17] Explaining the name of the album, she said: "I think I went through a lot. And life had given me the tools… to find my inner strength, to find courage, and to keep going. The people that I love so much embraced the moments that were difficult. They gave me so much strength. And then a song came that was called "Courage", and it didn't take long for all of us to say, 'I think the album should be called Courage'".[15] Dion announced the tour in a video titled "Ciao for now Las Vegas", in which she leaves Las Vegas in a car full of drag queens.[18][17] The promo also teases a new song, "Flying On My Own".[17] On 5 April 2019 on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dion promoted her upcoming tour, sang few lines from the song "Courage" and performed "Ashes".[19][20] Writing and recordingIn April 2019, Dion revealed she has already recorded 48 new songs for the upcoming album and must choose 12 of them.[21] The new album, Courage, will explore new musical directions.[22] After releasing Pink-written "Recovering" in September 2016, Dion recorded new music in October 2016 with Diane Warren, who wrote many of her hits, including "Because You Loved Me".[8][23] In April 2017, Dion mentioned that Sia has written three songs for her.[24] In April 2019, it was announced that the new album will include an appearance by Sia and that one of the songs written by her is titled "Baby".[21][25] In December 2017, Dion revealed she has recorded new music with Stephan Moccio and Maty Noyes.[26] Moccio wrote Dion's 2002 successful single "A New Day Has Come", and also co-wrote hits for other artists, including "Earned It" by The Weeknd or "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus.[27] In December 2017, Dion also worked in the studio with Jörgen Elofsson, a Swedish songwriter who co-wrote hits for many artists, including Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears.[28] In October 2018, David Guetta mentioned that Dion recorded a song he co-wrote with Sia.[29] While announcing the Courage World Tour in April 2019, Dion revealed that she recorded a song "Courage", which became the title track for the album, set for release in November 2019.[17] The promotional video for the tour features fragment of a new song, "Flying On My Own".[18][17] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5679741/celine-dion-talks-loved-me-back-to-life-single-album-exclusive|title=Celine Dion Talks 'Loved Me Back to Life' Single, Album (Exclusive)|author=Andrew Hampp|work=Billboard|date=29 August 2013|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/13/showbiz/celine-dion-cancels/|title=Celine Dion cancels shows as husband fights cancer|author=Alan Duke|publisher=CNN|date=14 August 2014|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/celine-dion-cancels-tour-husband-rene-angelils-illness/story?id=24959133|title=Celine Dion Cancels Tour Because of Husband Rene Angelil's Illness|author=Lesley Messer|publisher=ABC News|date=13 August 2014|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/celine-dion-has-new-manager-711347|title=Celine Dion Has New Manager as Rene Angelil Steps Down|author=Etan Vlessing|work=The Hollywood Reporter|date=6 December 2014|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.smoothradio.com/music-news/celine-dions-husband-has-died/|title=Celine Dion's Husband Has Lost A 'Courageous' Battle With Cancer|publisher=Smooth Radio|date=14 January 2016|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/bbma/7356823/celine-dion-icon-award-perform-2016-billboard-music-awards|title=Celine Dion to Receive ICON Award & Perform at 2016 Billboard Music Awards|work=Billboard|date=4 May 2016|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2016/10/03/celine-dions-new-album-took-over-the-globe-last-month-and-the-u-s-didnt-even-notice/#3bc77ae35964|title=Celine Dion's New Album Took Over The Globe Last Month, And The U.S. Didn't Even Notice|author=Hugh McIntyre|work=Forbes|date=3 October 2016|accessdate=4 April 2019}} 8. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|url=http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/7503446/celine-dion-pink-recovering-new-song-listen|title=Celine Dion, With Pink's Help, 'Recovering' On New Song: Listen|author=Mary J.
