词条 | Danzig, North Dakota |
释义 |
HistoryA post office called Danzig was in operation from 1898 to 1903, but it closed due to lack of development. During a brief boom, it reopened in 1911 and stayed in operation until 1955.[2] The community was named after Danzig, in Prussia.[3] According to a 2018 article in The American Conservative, "Danzig, North Dakota (peak population 100) lost its post office in 1955, and its entire population soon after. Today the town is all private property, and Main Street leads to the driveway of a nearby farmer."[4] References1. ^{{GNIS|1028609}} {{McIntosh County, North Dakota}}{{coord|46|08|17|N|99|28|29|W|type:city_region:US-ND_source:GNIS-enwiki|display=title}}{{NorthDakota-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.postalhistory.com/postoffices.asp?task=display&state=ND&county=McIntosh | title=McIntosh County | publisher=Jim Forte Postal History | accessdate=22 October 2015}} 3. ^{{cite book|author=Federal Writers' Project|title=North Dakota, a Guide to the Northern Prairie State,|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=dCGVnMUdNqMC&pg=PA286|year=1938|publisher=WPA|isbn=978-1-62376-033-5|page=286}} 4. ^{{cite news |last1=Johnson |first1=Vincent David |title=Photographing the Ruins of Rural America |url=http://www.theamericanconservative.com/urbs/photographing-the-ruins-of-rural-america/ |accessdate=June 24, 2018 |work=The American Conservative |date=June 20, 2018}} 2 : Unincorporated communities in McIntosh County, North Dakota|Unincorporated communities in North Dakota |
