Jordan is a Republican. Prior to her Senate tenure, Jordan served as a member of the town council in Halfmoon, New York. BackgroundJordan is a graduate of Penn State Dickinson School of Law (J.D.) and Lehigh University (B.A.).[2][3] A resident of Halfmoon, New York, Jordan is married with two children.[4][5] Jordan is a USA Swimming certified official.[6] Jordan served on the Halfmoon Planning Board from 2002 to 2005, and later served on the Halfmoon Zoning Board of Appeals from 2006 to 2014.[7] In 2014, Jordan was elected to the Halfmoon Town Council. She was reelected in 2015.[8] Jordan has also served as treasurer for the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library.[9] Jordan worked as the Legislative Director and Senate Local Government Committee Director for her predecessor, Senator Kathy Marchione.[10] New York SenateIn 2018, Republican Senator Kathy Marchione announced that she would not seek reelection in Senate District 43 that fall.[11] The announcement immediately put the seat into play as a competitive district.[12] Following Marchione's retirement, Jordan announced that she would seek to succeed her.[13] Jordan described herself as pro-life and pro-Second Amendment. She ran on a platform that she said would serve as a “check and balance to Governor Andrew Cuomo and the powerful New York City Democrats.” She also opposes “sanctuary cities” and “free college for illegal immigrants”.[14] Aaron Gladd, a Democrat and the former deputy policy director for Andrew Cuomo, ran against Jordan.[15] Although New York State Senate Democrats enjoyed a wave election in 2018,[16] Jordan defeated Gladd[17] by a margin of 67,377 votes to 59,615 votes.[18] References1. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.saratogian.com/news/elections/tedisco-jordan-take-senate-seats/article_75a174de-e2c8-11e8-9511-8f96fa103996.html|title=Tedisco, Jordan take Senate seats|work=The Saratogian|first=Glenn|last=Griffith|date=November 7, 2018|access-date=December 13, 2018}} {{New York State Senate}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Jordan, Daphne}}{{NewYork-politician-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/daphne-jordan/about|title=About Daphne Jordan|website=NY State Senate|accessdate=31 January 2019}} 3. ^https://www.hudsonvalley360.com/article/aaron-gladd-and-daphne-jordan-will-square-marchione%E2%80%99s-seat-nov-6 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.hudsonvalley360.com/article/aaron-gladd-and-daphne-jordan-will-square-marchione%E2%80%99s-seat-nov-6|title=Aaron Gladd and Daphne Jordan will square off for Marchione’s seat Nov. 6 {{!}} Hudson Valley 360|website=www.hudsonvalley360.com|language=en|access-date=2019-02-06}} 5. ^https://www.hudsonvalley360.com/article/aaron-gladd-and-daphne-jordan-will-square-marchione%E2%80%99s-seat-nov-6 6. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.hudsonvalley360.com/article/rensselaer-county-republican-committee-endorses-daphne-jordan-new-york-state-senate%E2%80%99s-43rd|title=Rensselaer County Republican Committee Endorses Daphne Jordan for New York State Senate’s 43rd District {{!}} Hudson Valley 360|website=www.hudsonvalley360.com|language=en|access-date=2019-02-06}} 7. ^https://www.hudsonvalley360.com/article/aaron-gladd-and-daphne-jordan-will-square-marchione%E2%80%99s-seat-nov-6 8. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.wamc.org/post/republican-daphne-jordan-officially-kicks-campaign-43rd-senate-district|title=Republican Daphne Jordan Officially Kicks Off Campaign For 43rd Senate District|last=Willard|first=Lucas|website=www.wamc.org|language=en|access-date=2019-02-06}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.nystateofpolitics.com/2018/10/jordan-ad-highlights-library-help/|title=Jordan Ad Highlights Library Help|website=www.nystateofpolitics.com|access-date=2019-02-06}} 10. ^{{Cite web|url=https://poststar.com/news/local/departing-sen-marchione-endorses-jordan-as-replacement/article_fbb4a59e-d972-544d-9344-54287277196a.html|title=Departing Sen.
