Her family moved to Canada when she was nine years old. She grew up in Hamilton, Ontario.[2] She studied Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Queen's University and Bachelor of Education at University of Toronto.[3] She has played piano and violin for over 20 years. She speaks Korean, English, and French. She was a 5th and 6th-grade math teacher in MICA international school in South Korea from 2017 to 2018.
