David ab Owen (died 1512) was a Welsh abbot and bishop. His family were from the Glasgoed area of Meifod, Montgomeryshire. He studied at Oxford, graduating with a qualification in Canon and Civil Law. He is thought to have taken his Doctorate in Law. He was an abbot of Strata Marcella, and of Strata Florida, and also of Aberconwy at Maenan (sometime after of 1489) where he continued after his appointment to the bishopric of St. Asaph in December 1503. Many of the Welsh poets of the time, such as Bedo Brwynllys, Dafydd Amharedudd ap Tudur, Guto'r Glyn and Hywel Rheinallt praised his scholarship and learning. He died in February 1512, and was buried near the altar in his cathedral church.[1] References1. ^{{cite web|title=David ab Owen|url=https://biography.wales/article/s-DAFY-ABO-1512|website=Dictionary of Welsh Biography|publisher=National Library of Wales|last=Williams|first=Griffith John|accessdate=13 December 2016}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:ab Owen, David}}{{wales-bio-stub}}{{reli-bio-stub}} 4 : Welsh bishops|15th-century Welsh people|16th-century Welsh people|1512 deaths |
