A Victorian-era travel agency opened in 1871 by Joseph Dean and John Dawson. John Dawson started at the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company and in 1880, merged his company with Joseph Dean. It was eventually taken over by London and North Eastern Railway and later nationalized under the British Transport Commission.[1] In LiteratureIn the book, The Great Escape by Paul Brickhill, the name Dean and Dawson is used as a joke by the forgers who produce counterfeit documents for the escaping prisoners of war.
