  • 26 February – Barings Bank collapses due to the activities of one trader, Nick Leeson, who loses $1.4 billion by speculating on the Singapore International Monetary Exchange, primarily using futures contracts.
  • 6 March - Opening ceremony of Good Morning Singapore (早安您好), a Chinese first flagship weekday breakfast programmes on TCS-8 by the live telecast aired on Monday to Friday at 7:00 SST.
  • 11 March – CETV Family Channel was opening ceremony by Toni Braxton was accompanied by the Prime Minister of Malaysia's Mahathir Mohamad, King of Malaysia's Jaafar of Negeri Sembilan and Sultan of Brunei Darussalam's Hassanal Bolkiah at 19:00 HKT with a ”You're Makin' Me High” performance.
  • 17 March – Filipina domestic worker Flor Contemplacion is hanged for the 4 May 1991 murder of fellow worker Delia Maga and her four-year-old charge, Nicholas Huang.[1]
  • 2 June – National Day Ceremony song "My People My Home" is unveiled and announced to be used for the 1995 National Day Parade. Since then, it was planned for the NDP to be held at Padang in every five years.
  • 1 September - The Land Transport Authority was launched by then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and other cabinet ministers like the then Communications Minister Mah Bow Tan and Deputy Prime Minister, Tony Tan Keng Yam who is currently the seventh President of the Republic of Singapore.
  • 5 September - The last transmission of News Brief in Mandarin (新闻简报) it ceased transmission was renamed "Singapore Today (狮城6点半)".
  • 6 September
    • TCS-8 first channel in Singapore to 24-hour broadcasts and became the full Chinese channel to become news programmes of the broadcast after three weekday news programmes and two weekend news programmes.
    • Opening ceremony of "Midday News (午间新闻)", a first Chinese weekday noon news programme on TCS-8 by the live telecast aired on Monday to Friday at 13:00 SST.
    • Opening ceremony of "Singapore Today (狮城6点半)" is a Chinese flagship daily evening news programmes on TCS-8 by the live telecast aired daily at 18:30 SST.
    • News in Mandarin was renamed from 第八新闻 to become "晚间新闻" is a Chinese flagship daily evening news programmes on TCS-8 by the live telecast aired daily at 22:00 SST.
    • Channel 12 was split into two television stations:
    • Premiere 12 (now Okto) is an English channel showcasing culture, art, documentary, classical music, children and sport programmes.
    • Prime 12 (now Suria and Vasantham) is a Malay and Tamil channel showcasing variety show lifestyle, information and entertainment programmes.
  • 25 September - TCS-5 commenced 24-hour broadcasts.
