Baird earned her Ph.D. at the University of Alabama. Also, she earned a Master of Science in Education at UA, and a B.S. from Auburn University. Her post-doctoral study was at Spring Hill College in theology. She has worked as instructor at the University of Alabama, assistant professor at Austin College, Associate Professor at University of West Alabama, Chairperson at Stillman College, and Professor and Dean of Education at Athens State University.[4] She currently serves as Professor of Religious[5] Studies[6] at Athens State University.[7] Baird's research interests are history and antiquities, religious archaeology, ethics and spirituality.{{citation needed|date=April 2018}} She is also the President of Clan Baird Society Worldwide, Inc.,[8] the armigerous Clan Baird organization for the clan in diaspora.
