Del Irani, also known as Delnaaz Irani (born 4 September 1983) is an Indian-Australian journalist. Irani is currently a business and finance presenter on News Breakfast. [1] CareerIrani started a double-degree in a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Science at the University of NSW, before receiving a scholarship to complete the final year at the University of California, Berkeley. Irani started her career in journalism as a field producer and in 2009 was appointed Mumbai correspondent for BBC World News and became the presenter of India Business Report.[2] During her time at the BBC, she was known as Delnaaz Irani and provided live coverage of breaking stories, including the trial of the lone surviving gunman in the 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks.[3] In May 2012, Irani joined the ABC as a presenter and reporter. In 2015, Irani joined the ABC News Breakfast team as a business and finance presenter and is also a regular co-host with Michael Rowland and Virginia Trioli.[4] She's also one of the creators and presenter of award-winning talk show, #Talkaboutit.[5] Irani is one of five presenters of the series, Escape from the City, produced by FremantleMedia Australia and screened on ABC from January 2019. It is an Australian adaptation of the BBC's Escape to the Country.[6][7] Irani is also a board member of the Western Bulldogs Football Club’s Community Foundation. Personal lifeIrani was born in Mumbai and emigrated to Australia with her family when she was eight years old.
