Early lifeDennis Lam had obtained Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Philosophy from University of Sheffield and then got Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham.[2] CareerAcademic careerIn 2001 he worked at the Nanyang Technological University first as a visiting research fellow and then as visiting professor. Two years later Lam became visiting senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales and in 2005 became visiting scholar at the University of Wollongong. Dennis had been a visiting professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic, Western Sydney and Leeds universities between 2008 and 2011. He returned to Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2012 and in 2013 became Tsinghua Special Chair Professor at the Tsinghua University.[3] Editorial careerAs an editor, Dr. Lam was an editor-in-chief of Steel and Composite Structures and was an editorial board member of the International Journal of Steel Structures, Journal of Advanced Steel Construction, Journal of Constructional Steel Research, Journal of Progress in Steel Building Structures, Open Civil Engineering Journal, Structures and the Civil Engineering department of The Scientific World Journal.[3] Works
