He was a member of the Indian Kabaddi Team, and won a gold medal at the Kabaddi World Cup in 2016.[1] Cheralathan is a member the Kabaddi Hall of Fame. He holds nine gold medals at such events as the Kabaddi National Championship, the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, and the Asian Beach Games.[2] Early lifeCheralathan comes from a farming family in Tamil Nadu. He has one brother and two sisters. Of his farming background, he says: "Farming was all that was important to me while growing up. Even my brother is a farmer. We spent a lot of our young days working in the fields."[3] Cheralathan's brother, D. Gopu, also plays in the Pro Kabaddi League, and is also a defender. This season, Gopu will be seen playing for Tamil Thalaivas.[3] Pro Kabbadi LeagueCheralathan played for the Bengaluru Bulls and Telugu Titans before he was bought by the Patna Pirates at auction during the fourth season in 2017.[3] Cheralathan sold for 29 lakh rupees, and was appointed captain of the Patna Pirates.
