Ye Meri Life Hai was a Hindi TV serial that aired on Sony TV. This serial has been included in the list of successful shows for the channel. The serial ended in late 2005. The story reflects the aspirations and dreams of today's youth, as they battle it out with conventions and norms to carve their own niche in the world. The screenplay and dialogues of the initial episodes were penned by Arif Ali and Sanyukta Chaudhuri respectively.

Plot

The story revolves around Pooja who belongs to a typical middle class Gujarati household but strives to fulfill her dream to become a film director just like Karan Johar. Pooja takes her first bold step towards fulfilling her dream of becoming a film director by making the decision to join a hip n' happening college like St. Martin's while keeping her father in the dark about this. When Pooja enters the awe-inspiring yet strange world of St. Martin's along with her best friend Mandy, they are immediately thrown into a world of myriad experiences; a culture that is alien, modern and sometimes shocking. On her very first day in college, the simple and straightforward, Pooja comes face to face with the hip and high-class students of St. Martins's and is made intensely aware of her middle-class looks and attitudes. But, ever optimistic, she not only accepts this new world but decides to take everything in her stride. Here begins Pooja's journey of constantly learning from this newfound society while keeping herself untouched by its worldliness. The fire and desire within her to make her mark in the film industry drives and inspires her through thick and thin. Modern in approach and dynamic in thinking, Pooja struggles with her orthodox family and economic barriers; sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing, sometimes confident, sometimes fraught with insecurities, sometimes crying, sometimes laughing but yet always emerging a winner!

The story moves in two segments. Initially it starts with Pooja's struggles of becoming a successful film director. She lies to her family to take admission in St. Martin's College in Mumbai that can provide the best film course. At the college, she encounters a culture clash with many snobbish rich students bullying her by repeatedly calling her 'vernacular' as she speaks in her Gujarati tone and accent. Slowly and Steadily, Pooja wins the trust of all the students in the college and makes her way successfully to fulfill her dreams. At this point, the story moves around her dreams and the college she studies.

However, later the story shifts gear when Pooja's sister Poornima gets married to her lover - Ronit. Pooja starts her new journey as an Independent working Girl. Enters a new man in her life, a young rich businessman Ashmit who is not anyone else but step brother of Ronit Gujral. Pooja gets married to Ashmit but later finds out he is an Imposter and not the real Ashmit. The Imposter plays many tricks to keep his secret safe even killing Pooja's sister Poornima. Atlast, he gets arrested and gets jailed. A broken Pooja is comforted by Ronit who finally makes her realize her dream of becoming a successful film director. Pooja gets Inspired again to reach out her goals.

At the shoot of the film, Ronit approaches Pooja and proposes her for marriage. Pooja accepts it happily and they both live happily ever after.

The cast received accolades from several critics, notably the performances of Sama Sikandar and Amit Jain.
