It is an orange solid that is stable below −40 °C. It has the structure Br−O−BrO2 (bromine bromate).[2] The Br−O−Br bond is bent with bond angle 111.2° and the Br−O−BrO2 bond length is 1.85Å.[3] ReactionsDibromine trioxide can be prepared by reacting a solution of bromine in dichloromethane with ozone at low temperatures.[2][3] It disproportionates in alkali solutions to Br{{su|p=−}} and BrO{{su|b=3|p=−}}.[3] References1. ^{{Citation | last = Perry | first = Dale L. | author-link = | last2 = Phillips | first2 = Sidney L. | author2-link = | publication-date = | date = | year = 1995 | title = Handbook of Inorganic Compounds | edition = | volume = | series = | publication-place = | place = | publisher = CRC Press | id = | isbn = 0-8493-8671-3 | doi = | oclc = | pages = 255 | url = https://books.google.com/books?id=0fT4wfhF1AsC&pg=PA255&dq=%22Mercury(I)+bromide%22 | accessdate = 2015-08-25}} {{bromine compounds}}{{oxides}}{{inorganic-compound-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite book|last1=Henderson|first1=K.
