The legs are clean.[1] Yili horses are normally bay, chestnut, black or gray[1] and are an average height of 14 hands high.[1] Breed historyYili horses originated around 1900 from Russian breeds crossed with Mongolian stock.[1] Don, and Don-Thoroughbred crosses as well as Orlov Trotters were used from 1936 on to improve the native horses. In 1963 the decision was made to aim for a draft-type horse.[2] UsesYili horses are used for riding and driving, and also bred for their meat and milk.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/ |title=Yili Horse|work=Breeds of Livestock |publisher=Oklahoma State University |accessdate=November 21, 2010}} {{Equine|state=collapsed}}{{short description|Horse breed originating in China}}{{China-stub}}{{horse-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=http://imh.org/horse-breeds-of-the-world/yili/ |title=Yili |work=Horse Breeds of the World |publisher=International Museum of the Horse|accessdate=November 21, 2010}} 2 : Horse breeds originating in China|Horse breeds |
