Dirk van der Westhuizen (born in Pretoria, South Africa on 21 May 1990) is a South African Afrikaans singer. He released his debut album Is Dit Jy in 2010 and the follow-up album Uithak in 2012 under Maroela Musiek. In 2017 he released #Onswilenonskan his third studio album containing the hits Spoel My Af and Gooi Jou Suiker Op My (Remix). In 2018 he made a major break-thru with Sexy Vir My that made Dirk a household name overnight. Contents{{Empty section|date=March 2019}}Career[edit]Dirk van der Westhuizen was born in Pretoria. After completing high school, Dirk pursued a career as a singer. He dreamed of a music career since he was 8 years old, when he discovered MTV, where Britney Spears inspired him to never lose his passion to dream.[1] Singing karoake in bars, when he was 16 he suddenly realized that he could sing Edge of My Life by Kurt Darren perfectly. After school, Dirk pursued a singing career as four years later released his debut album Uithak in 2012 and the single Jy Is (Supercool) went viral with critics ridicule the music video.
