释义 |
Henry David Hughes was the minister of Disgwylfa from 1915 until his death in 1947. Widely known as Harri Hughes, he had left school at the age of twelve to work in the Dinorwic quarry, as several generations of his family had done. At the age of twenty-one he resumed his education and entered the ministry. His son, Cledwyn Hughes, was the MP for Anglesey from 1951 until 1979 and was also a deacon at Disgwylfa.[2] The 1909 chapel was built in the Romanesque style with a gable-entry plan and flanking turrets but was demolished in 2009.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Disgwylfa Chapel, London Road, Holyhead.|url=http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/site/8671/details/DISGWYLFA+CHAPEL+(WELSH+CALVINISTIC+METHODIST%3BLONDON+ROAD),+LONDON+ROAD,+HOLYHEAD/|website=Coflein|publisher=Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales|accessdate=22 April 2016}} {{coord|53.3044|-4.6268|type:landmark_region:GB-AGY|display=title}}2. ^{{cite web|last1=Jones|first1=David Lewis|title=Cledwyn Hughes, Baron Cledwyn of Penrhos|url=https://biography.wales/article/s8-HUGH-CLE-1916|website=Dictionary of Welsh Biography|accessdate=22 April 2016}} 1 : Chapels in Anglesey |
