It is involved in creating a sense of the self.[1][2] This sense of self that the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex is involved in is what Claparede referred to as "me-ness".[2][3] It is also involved in what is called "Theory of mind", or considering the mental states of others.[4] Brain activity in the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex has been shown to be significant in altruism.[5] This region has been shown to be unusually inactive in people exhibiting psychological dissociation.[6] See also{{Anatomy-terms}}{{Commons category|Prefrontal cortex}}
