The medical devices company was founded by Todd Brown in 2001.[1] ConvaTec, which is owned by Nordic Capital and Avista Capital Partners, is the parent company of 180 Medical.[2][3] Background180 Medical was founded by Todd Brown back in 2001, after he suffered from an accident and could not find the right medical supplies for his spinal cord injury. 180 Medical is a manufacturer of urological catheters, ostomy supplies and incontinence supplies. A part of the proceeds that come from 180 Medical are given to Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, a New Jersey-based non-profit dedicated towards paralysis and spinal cord injuries.[4] The company also offers a college scholarship for students with spinal injuries and transverse myelitis.[5] In July 2012, 180 Medical published two instructional books Ethan Can Cath! and Emma Can Cath!, to teach children how to self-cath.
