The 1983 Nehru Cup was the second edition of the Nehru Cup. It was held between March 14 to 29 in Cochin.

Format

A total of 7 teams participated in the tournament through being invited by the All India Football Federation. The teams are divided into 2 groups, Group A, B has 3, 4 teams respectively. Each group consisted of 6 matches (4, 3 matches for each team in Group A, B respectively). The top 2 teams from each group advanced into semi-finals.
